Thursday 4 June saw the launch of the Amos Bursary in honour of Mike and Dolly Amos. The launch took place in the River Room, House of Lords with the kind permission of the Lord Speaker, Lady Hayman. Many family members, friends, colleagues and supporters joined together for the evening to meet the first 7 Bursary students and their families. It was a moving, emotional and joyous occasion with inspirational words from the students about the importance of support and mentoring.
Visit with Garth Crooks 2009
- report by Saad Noor – Bursary student
Garth Crooks , former Tottenham striker and current BBC Football pundit who invited me and three others to attend the BBC during the Confederations Cup to shadow him which was an invaluable experience for me. I also went to Manchester for a week to visit family and watched my beloved Manchester United take on Valencia in a pre-season friendly, Chelsea in the Community Shield and Birmingham in the League. This was all very exciting; however, the most relieving day of the summer came on the 20th August when I got my A Level results which confirmed my place at City University London to study Journalism.
